Travel Dork: The Brooklyn Nomad, Andrew Hickey
Travel Dork: Andrew Hickey
Andrew Hickey (blood bruise from a long—sucky?—sorry Andrew, we had to) keeps it real as the Brooklyn Nomad—a travel-loving, bagel-inhaling, always humble blogger. Not surprisingly, the Brooklyn nomad gives us a lot of information about NYC, but he manages to slip in a few tidbits even the most jaded New Yorker doesn’t know (such as the German food and booze paradise known as Rolf’s restaurant). Check out his recent fancy-pants appearance on Fox News, where he spent part of these fifteen minutes of fame discussing non-traditional travel media.
How can anyone not enjoy odd-fact lists of places, amazing photo features known as “travel shots,” and guest nomad blogs? While Hickey likes to lay his head on a softer pillow than we do, when we’re in the mood for a luxury hotel, there’s nothing like his well-given and well-researched advice.

In his most recent article entitled “Similarities and Differences Between Brooklyn, New York and Cape Town, South Africa”, Hickey features Guest Nomad, Jade Scully, who juxtaposes cities that are worlds apart to weed out our universal commonalities. Since OTP is Brooklyn-based, this article hits very close to home.
OTP likes shiny things and Hickey brings it hard with all his colorful, bright, original photography. His words are always appreciated, but he’s smart enough to sometimes let the pictures do the talking. These photos got us biting at the bit to get to the Chinese Lantern Festival in Montreal next October.

He also makes sure to tell us what other travel blogs he’s reading (Andrew, check out OTP, we heard it’s a pretty good read). That’s a helpful, selfless contribution to the community and we’re down with that. That’s right, Hickey. We’re down with you, travel dork as you may be.
