Travel Dork: Hop and Jaunt
Travel Dork: Hop and Jaunt
Aly and John, the traveling designers behind Hop & Jaunt, are on a mission to make the travel-related web a “visually pleasing place”. In other words, these dorks bring on the pretty.

They ditched the American dream, shedding the shackles of corporate slavery for a 9-month journey across the Caribbean and Colombia. Sailing the seas and beach backpacking are documented in the blog section of their site, but the adventures don’t stop there. Now settled in the hotbed of sin, New Orleans, Aly and John are fixated on sailboats, trains, hot-air-balloons and other unconventional means of transportation. They have grand visions for the time when location-independence will allow them to cement their reputation as the official design agency for the travel community.

Aside from creating custom designs, these guys are all about creative marketing ideas. The Hop-And-Jaunt store is filled with travel souvenirs on steroids. That T-shirt you bargained for in the tourist-trapped marketplaces of Europe has nothing on their eye-catching designs.
These days, it’s not so easy traveling long-term and these dorks remind us that there’s nothing like a hop or jaunt (a short quick trip) to get your travel fix. If you want to learn how to stay a traveler at heart by being free and self-sufficient, visit Aly and John and see how they do it. It’s all about living in the moment, and whether in Cartagena or New Orleans, New York City or the Caribbean, these guys know how to do it in true, visually pleasing, travel dork fashion.
