Travel Dork: D Travels Round

What do you do when you’re 30 and you wake up, realizing you are not living the life you ever imagined?

That’s the question that Diana Edelman asked herself in early 2010, after a brief stint on the beaches of Croatia reminded her of the glory beyond corporate life as a publicist. Taking her 30-life crisis by the balls, Diane handed in her resignation and started planning her RTW trip, documenting her life-changing backpacking trip on her site, “The Adventures of D”.

The site’s opening tagline says it all: Life’s not about living happily ever after: It’s about living.

In true travel-dork style, D has been living it up since April 2010, and sharing it all with her loyal following of readers and commentators on the web. Live vicariously through D by following her itinerary, detailing 2010 adventures from Maryland to Europe, starting in London and Ireland before an extensive stay in Spain, where she fell in love with the country. A travel press trip to Rwanda gave D her first glimpse of Africa before she headed back to Europe and adventured through the east. Each story is funnier than the next, as D’s witty conversational style takes readers through her adventures getting nude in the public baths of Hungary, revisiting Jewish roots in Poland, experiencing free walkabout therapy in Prague and popping her Couchsurfing cherry in Berlin. D’s African adventures continued in Morocco, where her tails of “Boobs and a Bath” in the traditional Hammam are travel blog gold.

This lovely lady isn’t about travel-blog-torture, making us drool over the delicious food and hot new friends she’s encountered. The handy lists featured on her blog, with dorky selections like Airport Sleeping 101, How to Barter Like a Pro and Trains Versus Buses (Which is Better?), encourages others to get out and do the same, ditching the 30-life crisis for a life of traveling ‘round. And the best part of this travel dork’s immaculately presented webpage? A carefully-selected, excellently-chosen recommended reading section, featuring OTP, of course! D is for dork, travel dork to be exact.
