You need to make sure you're bank isn't going to charge you a big fee, but it's easier, safer than carrying around a lot of dollars and you know you will get a good rate and pretty much every airport in Europe is going to have accessible ATMs. As far as exchanging money goes, I’ve found it much simpler to leave the dollars at home and take local money out of an ATM at arrival.
